Nail art stripes mani

Hi, everyone!

This is my first post of 2015!

I was inspired by another nail blogger I follow on Instagram (Lovelymugglenails) to recreate a stripes mani in a different color combination. Check out the pics below... I really like how it turned out :) 

The beautiful grey polish is "Intelligence, Integrity, & Courage" from China Glaze's The Giver collection, and the stripes were free-handed by using all five of the colors included in The New Black's "Digital Underground" set (I was lucky enough to find this set on clearance for only $7 at TJ Maxx!). 

So, what do you think? I actually made a New Years resolution this time, and I decided that I will work more on my free-handed nail art skills. It's going to be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it! I'll see you later with a new look :) Happy New Year!

China Glaze Cherry Blossom Appliqués nail art

Hi!

Today I have a mani that I came up with rather spontaneously. I had some left over China Glaze nail appliqués and I decided to put them to use. Using some nail vinyls from Miami Hand Jobs, I decided to make a somewhat rustic look, given the fall season we're in. Take a look at the pics below to see what im talking about! 

I ended up having mixed feelings about this look. One side of me feels it doesn't look bad, and the other half of me wishes I had used a brown underneath the cherry blossom print instead of the reddish orange. This is one of those situations where it looked better in my head than it does in real life! It happens! I've got plenty more nail appliqués from China Glaze (which happen to have a great shelf life) to play with and create better looks like this. Trial and error...

China Glaze Sea Goddess nail polishes

Hello, everyone!

It's halfway through the week, and I have a new post for you today. I noticed that I haven't worn any textured polishes in awhile, so I thought it would be a good time to do so. What I like most about textured polishes is the dry time... I can paint my nails with a textured polish right before I go to bed and not worry about waking up with any dents or dings. They also seem to last a bit longer on me than regular polishes do, for some reason. Anyways, I stopped by a Sally's beauty supply store one day and took a look at their clearance section. I happened to walk in at a time when all of the sale stuff was discounted by an extra 50%, so I decided to grab a few of the China Glaze Sea Goddess polishes. Check out "Wish On A Starfish" and "Seahorsin' Around" in the pics below. I used two easy coats for each. 

I loved how "Starfish" looked in the bottle, but I'm not so sure this color works with my skin tone. I really wanted it work, though! The other pink in the collection, "Shell We Dance",  which is a bit darker, probably would have worked better on me but that one was not available at the store. Teal polishes always seem to work well on my skin tone so I really like how "Seahorsin'"looks on me (just wish the sun cooperated more with me when I was taking the pics!). So, I might be a little late to the party with this collection, but I think if you decide to grab these now they could definitely still work for the remainder of the summer.

China Glaze "Sand Dolla Make You Holla"

The other day, before heading out of town, I quickly ran into a Sally's beauty supply store to get a cuticle trimmer. I walked in, found what I was looking for, then thought about taking a quick look at the clearance section. This Sally's store happened to have quite a few of the China Glaze "Sea Goddess" collection that I had been thinking about for quite a while. I grabbed three, walked up to the register to pay for my goodies, and the Sally's employee was nice enough to give me the buy 1 get 2 free deal on the China Glazes; even though they were on cleareance! I guess I walked in at the perfect time, because I didn't even know this deal was going on; nor did I know that promotions apply to clearance items as well. Three nail polishes for just about four dollars? ...I say yes! Lol... Anyways here's one of the ones I grabbed, and it's a super cute textured polish (all of the polishes in this collection are textured) called "Sand Dolla Make You Holla". Such a cute name! 

I really like polishes like this one, that have milky bases with multi-colored glitters. These combos remind me of frosting with sprinkles! Yummy :) 

Formula-wise, "Sand Dolla" was a bit tricky, but not so much that I wouldn't use it again. It was kind of thick, so I gave the bottle a good shake every once in a while. I applied three thin coats, and gave each coat a good two minutes or so to dry. Despite its thickness and having to apply three coats, I would say that it came out fairly leveled on my nails, and not like thick blobs (which tends to happen to me when I put on more than three coats of polish). I am looking forward to using the other two polishes I picked up from this collection, and I don't see the textured trend going out of style any time soon. They look great in the bottle, so I can't wait to see how they look on the nail! Have you picked up any polishes from the "Sea Goddess" collection? If so, what do you think? China Glaze nail polish appliques in "Ferr-ocious"

Hello!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I have a new mani to show you today, with my absolute favorite animal print of all time. For those that know me well, you know how obsessed I am with Leopard-print. The Leopard is my favorite animal, followed by Tigers, and Giraffes :) LOL. Here is my manicure using China Glaze nail polish appliques in "Ferr-ocious" print.

 

What do you think? In my opinion, animal print will never get old. I will rock Leopard, Tiger, or Giraffe nails no matter what time of the year it is. If you have a Sally's store near you, you may be able to find these appliques there. I am not sure if China Glaze will continue to make these, which may explain why they would be in the marked-down section of the store. You can also find these online at Amazon. China Glaze Nail Polish Appliques in "Cherry Blossom"

Hi there!

I have a new post for you today. I was in the mood for another nail polish appliques mani, so I searched through my collection of them and remembered I had this cherry blossom design from China Glaze that I hadn't used. The first thing I thought to myself after putting them on was "Why did I wait so long to wear these?"! I mean, the design is so fancy and I love the contrast between the red blossoms and the creamy white background. Not to mention I also got quite a few compliments on these. Anyways...on to the pics!

These are still available at some beauty supply stores and on Amazon. I first came across them at Sally's, and I haven't seen them at any of their stores recently. I suppose they will be in the marked-down section soon.  China Glaze's appliques are one of my favorite kinds that are made out of real nail polish. Their strips are nice and thick, which I feel makes it much easier to reapply if you weren't able to fix one on your nail correctly the first time. I'm kind of kicking myself for not buying a backup set of this design because the one person selling them on Amazon is selling them for a ridiculous price. Hopefully they'll pop back up at Sally's sooner than later so that I can stock up on this one, and the other designs like "Beyond Baroque" and "Jane loves Tarzan", which I loved. I am also keeping my fingers crossed that China Glaze will come out with some new designs in the future. We shall see. What do you think about my cherry blossom nails?
