Sally Hansen "Mint Tint"

Hello, everyone! 

I have a super quick post to show you today. Remember that I recently picked up some nail goodies that are on sale at CVS? Well, here's another one of the products I picked up that day from Sally Hansen. Here's one of their textured polishes in "Mint Tint". 

I wish the camera picked up the shimmer that you can kind of see in the bottle, but not so much on my nails. I used two coats of this polish, that evened out just how you see it above by the second coat. When I grabbed this one, it was marked at 75% off, so I thought it was a good textured polish to add to my collection for the price. Another color from the Sugar Shimmer line that I like is "Sugar Cloud", a light blue that has more obvious shimmer on the nail. 

So what do you think about this one? I love a pretty mint green color any time of the year.

Sally Hansen "Purple Craze" plus Fingrs nail art

Hello!

I have a super cute look to show you today. I must admit, that I'm starting to like purple more and more lately; it was never a favorite color of mine. Maybe it's because so many nail polish brands are coming out with so many great shades of purple that it is making me hard to pass them up. A recent trip to a Walmart tempted me to pick up some nail goodies including "Purple Craze" from Sally Hansen, and some nail tattoos from Fingrs brand. I thought they would look great together, so check out the pics below!

I really love the squishy jelly finish of "Purple Craze"! I used flash to better capture the jelly finish of the polish. The nail tattoo set I picked up will also make a great addition to my nail art stash. What you see on the accent nail went on very easily, just like a temporary tattoo or any nail decal you may have used before  would. I cut out the right size with some scissors and held it in a cup of water for a few seconds, and pressed on the nail. I sealed it with top coat, and I was ready to go!

I'm not a huge fan of the overall Walmart experience, but I do love their super low prices! ;) I want to say I spent about five dollars for both of these items together. The stores can be a bit messy at times, and the employees aren't always the nicest (at least not in Miami), but you really can find some great items there if you're patient enough, and go at a time when the store isn't too busy. They also have brands that I don't see at most places, like Salon Perfect, which I happen to be a fan of. We'll see when I decide to venture out to a Walmart again... lol.

Happy Blogiversary to me! And two Halloween manis

Hello, everyone!

Today marks two years of me being a nail blogger. I can't believe it's been only two years...it really feels like it's been more than that to me. My pictures have definitely come a long way since I first started, and I've become more confident in nail art; I especially love the MJ-themed nails I did this year. 

Unfortunately, I've been way too busy with work (I haven't even one day off this week) to think of something special to do for today, like giveaways and such, so I just decided to show you two looks perfect for Halloween today. Check out the pictures below of these super cute looks! 

These super cute nail wraps from Scratch were designed for Dia de Los Muertos (day of the dead), with Jenni of I Spy DIY blog. I thought it would be a good idea to add some glitter to these so I dabbed on "Comet in the Sky" from OPI's holiday collection with Gwen Stefani. This glitter has some very unique color combinations to it! Check out how cool it looks in the bottle  ;) 

This amazing matte nail polish is "Humilty" from Virtuous Polish. I stumbled upon this brand new indie maker on Instagram, and immediately liked what I saw. I believe they specialize in matte polishes, and they offer really bold colors as in bright orange, yellow, and hot pink (which I also ordered from them). They are also super affordable ($8 for regular size) and offer mini bottles. I am for sure a fan of Virtuous Polish! I added a mattified Sally Hansen Salon Effects strip in "Numbskull" as an accent. This was my first time applying matte top coat to a nail polish strip, and it worked out great. I should probably try to do this more often. I really love how matte looks on the nail. 

So, I just want to say thanks for following my nail blogging journey so far! I might still be in the newbie phase and have just a small following, but I do appreciate it. Thanks so much and have a safe Halloween weekend!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in "Stripe-Tease" with nail art

Hi, everyone!

I hope your week is off to a great start. Today I have a really quick nail art post to show you, featuring some Sally Hansen nail polish strips that I picked up at CVS a while ago. I stopped into a CVS store one day and saw that there were quite a few Sally Hansen products on clearance, so I snagged a handful of Salon Effects (my favorite product of theirs). Among my mini haul were these super cute red and black striped polish strips in "Stripe-Tease" that I thought would be fun to use. After I applied them the other day, I thought it would be a good idea to jazz them up a bit, so I added some glitter to the tips of each nail, and drew a little anchor with a white nail art pen (also from Sally Hansen). The red and black stripes made me think nautical, so I thought an anchor would add the perfect touch! Take a look at the pics below to see how it all turned out! :) 

The glitter that I used is from a nail polish set I found from The New Black, and there are quite a few TJ Maxx stores that have them on clearance (normally anywhere from $15-$25 regular priced). I would check them out if you have any TJ Maxx stores near you, and if you've been wanting to try The New Black polishes. As for the Salon Effects, "Stripe-Tease" is one of Sally Hansen's older designs, so you may not find these exact ones these days. They have many current designs to choose from, and you can find them at any place that sells Sally Hansen products. If you're fairly good at nail art, you can easily pull off a similar look with nail polish and striping tools; like many others out there.

Cult Nails "Evolution"

Hello!

Today I have a fun little post with some cute and simple nail art. 

A couple of weeks ago, I participated in my first  pre-order of a Cult Nails collection, which is their latest called  "It's A New Day". Since I missed out on the last one completely (still kicking myself for that...) , I told myself that when ever they come out with a collection with every color catching my interest, I will go for it! Lesson learned! With that said, here's what "Evolution" looks like on me, with some cute cat nail art (I'm a big cat lover!)! I hope you like it! 

Most people that have used this color have been able to get it on perfectly with three coats. I used three, then a super thin fourth coat, since I'm overly obsessive. The kitty nail art was done using nail art pens from Sally Hansen. I love these because I feel they are much easier for me than striper polishes. There's something about the pens that let me feel more comfortable with adding more details than the long, thin brushes that come with nail art polishes. This was only my second time using these nail art pens, but because of my visual art background, I can see my self getting better and more detailed with them. I'm excited to get more colors and do more nail art manually! 

So... What do you think? "Evolution" is a big hit in the nail community, and hopefully you can see why. I cannot think of any other nail polish like it out there, and the soft, squishy finish is so nice to look at on the nail. Did you pre-order this collection too? If not, hurry, because they are available for individual sale online now; and these will sell out for sure. Also, now makes the perfect time to put in a Cult Nails order, as they are running a 20% off sale for the entire month of May! I can't figure out which of these "It's a New Day" polishes to use next, but I'm thinking I might go with "New Day", the bright yummy yellow...See ya next time!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects "How Romantic!"

Hi!

I still cannot believe it is February already! Can you? This year is going by crazy fast... Anyways, with it being February, or "Singles Awareness Month" as described by a former classmate of mine (lmao), I will be doing some Valentines looks every now again before the month is over. I thought some more Sally Hansen Salon Effects, in "How Romantic!", would be perfect to get this going.

This is an older design from the brand that came out last year. It was still in great shape from being in my stash for so long, so no complaints here. They worked great, as usual. I love the color-blocking that you see in the design as well, and I will definitely try to free hand something like this in the future.

Sally Hansen InstaGel Strips in "Walk the Catwalk"

Hello, everyone!

I hope you're having a great 2014 so far. I'm actually finding that I am having such a hard time getting back into the swing of my busy schedule! Anyone else feel like that? I thought that what better way to shake off the rustiness I gained during the holidays than sporting some leopard print nail strips, so here is Sally Hansen Instagel strips in "Walk the Catwalk" in the pics below.

Sally Hansen's InstaGel line consists of nail polish strips infused with gel nail polish qualities, including the fact that they need to be "cured" with a led lamp once applied. I wore these during one of the craziest work weekends I've had in a while, and I want to say that they stayed on as long as I expected them to; which was about 5 days before one of the strips lifted up on one side. If you are the type of nail person who prefers long-lasting manis, then this might not be the thing for you. I change my nails quite often every week, so I was satisfied with the few days of wear, as I was already planning on my next mani anyways.

You can find any Sally Hansen InstaGel product from the nail strips, to the led lamps, and back-up top coat bottles at CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Ulta. If you have a CVS store nearby, I would check there first as quite a few of their products are included in the beauty sale that is currently running at most stores.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects "Hide And Peek"

Hello!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend, and aren't having too hard of a time getting back into the swing of your everyday lives (as if Mondays aren't bad enough!). I was able to get another mani prepared for you to see today, between the holiday and taking a look at all the sales going on online. 

I was able to pick up another set of Sally Hansen Salon Effects from their "Rent the Runway" lineup, and I really like this one called "Hide And Peek". It's another play on the clear nail wraps trend, and the design is just so fancy. I painted my nails with a French manicure pink (Nuance by Salma Hayek "Blush Peony"), and then brushed on "I'm not Lion", a golden holographic glitter from China Glaze. I think this look is perfect for any holiday party, so I took some pics by the tree! ...With a nail polish ornament of course ;) 

So, I told you guys that I got a new camera a couple of weeks ago, and that I'm still experimenting with all the different settings it has. I hope you can somewhat see the glitter on the tips of my nails in at least one of these pics. 

What do you think of this look? If you don't want to bother with painting your nails before applying these, I think they would look great on their own too. Try to see if you could find these and the other Rent the Runway Salon Effects at a Walgreens, as I did. They will probably mixed in with the display containing the Salon Effects that are in Sally Hansen's permanent line up. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I'll see ya next time!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Empress-ive

Hi!

I have some super artsy nail appliques to show you from Sally Hansen today. Sally Hansen created a collection of limited edition Salon Effects earlier this year called "Rent the Runway", that featured some designs that were very out side of the box for them (koi fish, black and gold glitter tiger stripes, peacock feather-inspired...). These super cool designs are what drew me in to grabbing a couple, including "Empress-ive", which you are about to see below.

I am loving the blue illustrations against the pure white base. This design just screams work-of-art to me!

I grabbed this quite some time ago, but I do believe that they are still available at Ulta and Walgreens; mixed in with the same displays as their permanent line-up. If you have an Ulta store near you, I would check there first, as they have been marked down in price.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects "Patch-O-Lanterns"

Hello, there!

I hope you are having a good Monday so far. I have quite a busy nail week ahead, with Halloween, the UM vs FSU fottball game, and a dance show I'm attending on Friday... This should be fun, none the less! Anyways, here's another Halloween look for you below. I decided to go through my nail polish strips stash for this cute Jack-O-Lantern  design from Sally Hansen.

I believe this design came out last year, but it may also be part of the current Halloween line up. Walgreens has had the best selection of the Halloween Salon Effects, and I have also heard that you can find them at Big Lots; in case you decide you want to dress up your nails with these in the next couple of days. What do you think of "Patch-O-Lanterns"? I think these would make a great addition to any Halloween costume! See ya with a new post soon!

Sally Hansen InstaGel Salon Effects in "Croc me up"

Hi there!

I hope your Monday is off to a great start. I have another Sally Hansen InstaGel Salon Effects post for you today. Remember that these InstaGel strips are just like the regular Salon Effects strips, but with a gel top coat that has to be cured with a led lamp. I had a hard time choosing from my stash of these this past weekend. My choices were between this crocodile print that you're about to see, and a shimmery leopard print (both by Sally Hansen). I asked my nail buddies in a nail group I'm in on Facebook to help me decide which design to go with, and the croc design got a couple more votes than the other. I'm glad I ended up putting on this set because it's not so often you see crocodile print on nails, and this one just screams "Fall" to me. Anyways, here's how "Croc me up" turned out on my nails...

What do you guys think? I really like the shimmer behind the crocodile scales (spots?). It really makes it pop, and it makes me think of a nice designer bag. I got this set at an Ulta store a while ago, and these surprisingly were in the clearance section. Sally Hansen must be coming out with new designs very soon. You can also find InstaGel strips and their led lamps at CVS, Target, and Walgreens. Now on to some good news...

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in "Tight Rope"

Hello everyone!

I don't think I've posted since the Heat won the NBA finals last week! It was a crazy seven games, but the Heat came out on top. I give serious props to the San Antonio Spurs for being the toughest opponent we had to face through out the entire playoffs. It's great to be a Miamian right now, that's for sure! ;) ... Now, on to some nail stuff!

A few weeks ago while I was at a Walgreens, I stumbled upon a display of some new Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips. There were so many cute designs to choose from. Too bad I was on a budget and could only purchase one at the time, otherwise I would have taken them all home with me. After a few minutes of pondering I finally went with Tight Rope, a vivid contrast between bright blue and purple in a creme-like finish.  Here it is.

You all know how much I love Sally Hansen's Salon Effects, so no need to do the broken record thing here. You can find these and any Sally Hansen products at CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Ulta. How do you like this design? I thought it was a bit too funky for me at first, but loved it once I saw how it looked on the nail! See ya next time :)

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in "Brattlesnake"

Hi Talon-ers!

Today I have a quick post about Sally Hansen Salon Effects in "Brattlesnake"!

I have been changing my polish a lot lately, and whenever I have weeks like that, I like to give my nails a bit of a break by putting on a set of nail polish strips/stickers for a few days.

There has been question about what type of top coat to use with these, if any, because of the concern of lifting or peeling. I normally used a quick-drying top coat to finish these off, and did experience some of the strips lifting up a bit near the cuticles at times. I always thought that it was because I did not press them down well enough, but I think the formula of quick-drying top coats causes the strips to lift up. I'm not sure why that is, but above I have on a regular-drying top coat and I did not have any lifting at all. So, there you have it: a regular-drying top coat works best with nail polish strips; if you're the type of person that has to use top coat all the time like me ;) See you next time!
