The New Black Demi Lovato "Stylized" and "Shattered"

Hi!

Happy Friday! Today I have what's probably my most daring nail art look so far. You all know that I love designed nail polish appliqués, but when I saw The New Black and Demi Lovato collaboration sets at Ulta last week, I couldn't refuse! I picked up three of the Demi Lovato sets, and combined two of them (I HAD to get the "Shattered" set just for the gold flakies) for the look you'll see below.

This probably would have been a good time to do a pictorial, but I had no one around to help me take pics! The New Black sets come with everything you see in the pics above, except for the striping tape to create the lines you see on my thumb nail, and to section off the color blocks on my ring finger nail. I also used nail art glue to stick on the studs, but most ladies use clear nail polish.

How do you think this turned out? I actually really love it, and can't wait to play with the "Safari" set next! These Demi Lovato nail polishes are available at most Ulta stores (at a marked down price), and directly from The New Black online. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I'll see ya next time!

Ulta Salon Formula Nail Lacquers in "Maine Attraction" and "StarryNight"

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a super quick post to show you, with some amazing Ulta nail polishes I picked up within the past couple of weeks. "Maine Attraction" is a gorgeous super dusty teal color that I absolutely love. I did an accent with a gold holographic glitter, "Starry Night" , which is also super cool! Check out the pics below!

The formula of "Maine Attraction" was quite thick, but it was very manageable and I didn't have any issues with those annoying little bubbles you get when thick polish dries (hate when that happens!). I had to do a little "placing" with "Starry Night", but for the most part, the glitter is packed in the bottle. I believe that all Ulta nail polishes are now only $2 (normally $6.50), so go grab some of your faves now!

What do you think about the colors I'm wearing above? Will you be picking them up soon? Ttyl

OPI Pure Lacquer Apps in "Floating Dragon"

Hey, there!

I have a new nail look using nail polish appliques (my fave nail thing) to show you today. A while ago, I was on the hunt for OPI's Pure Lacquer Apps from their James Bond inspired collection, and couldn't find them any where in stores. I took to amazon, and was happy to find the the ones I had been searching and searching for. I snagged "Floating Dragon" because I loved the dragons against the red base. I thought they looked so elegant. Here they are paired up with Loreal "Amazon's Flash", a gold shimmer nail polish,  to create a red and gold ruffian look.

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with how transparent the nail apps are. Since I had not seen any blogger reviews on them, I wasn't aware that they were going to be like this. They are almost jelly-like in finish when you compare them to nail polish. Once applied, it's a bit hard to tell that there are dragons on the nail appliqués; one person thought they were leopard spots at first! Oh, well! These really would have been a hit with me if the dragons were more visible... At least the overall look is nice!

Who would have thought that I would have a some-what nail appliques fail? I guess nail fails happen to all of us at some point!  If you want to give OPI's nail polish appliques a try , which I am normally a huge fan of, search for them on amazon and your local Ulta.

What do you think about this nail look? I'll see ya next time with a new, and hopefully more successful post! LOL

The New Black "From Russia With Love"

Hi!

I absolutely love the mani I have to show you today. I had been eyeing this set of "From Russia With Love" nail polishes and nail art goodies from the brand The New Black for quite some time. Every time I've walked into an Ulta beauty store, I would pick it up, practically drool at all the awesomeness contained in the package, and put it back down. It might have been the price that kept me back for a while ($24), but I finally decided to go for it for the other day, and boy am I glad I did. I used a little bit of everything that came in the package; from the rhinestones, the Matroyshka doll nail stickers, and both nail polish colors to create a simple nail art look that you are going to see below. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Cute, huh? I would say that for my first The New Black experience, I'm quite satisfied! I was a bit worried about how the Matroyshka doll stickers would apply to my curved nail beds, but in the end they turned out just fine. The formula of the nail polishes was great, and they both covered nicely in two coats; and dried fairly quick. I'm so glad I finally went for it, and I even grabbed a Demi Lovato set too! I can't wait to play with that one! ;)

I got this super cute set from Ulta, but you could also purchase The New Black products from their website, and Sephora as well.  So, what do you think? See ya next time!

OPI Pure Lacquer Apps in "Peacock"

Hi!

I have been going through my stash and remembered these nail polish strips from OPI that I found at Ulta quite some time ago. Remember when OPI had these? Well, I do, and I still love the ones I picked out, so I decided to continue the nail polish strips kick that I'm on and show them to you! I hope you like the yellow and red "Peacock" feather design you're about to see below.

One thing I love about OPI's Pure Lacquer apps is how thin and pliable they are. They are perfect for ladies who also have super curved nail beds like I do; and if you have flatter nail beds then they're perfect for you as well! Nail apps that are thicker and more on the sticker side (that sounded a little funny) almost refuse to lay completely flat on my curved nail beds, so to cut out the frustration, I stick with those that are like the ones I'm wearing above. Finish with a coat of top coat as you would with regular polish, and you're ready to go!

What do you think about these? Have you given nail polish appliqués a try? See ya next time!

Sally Hansen InstaGel Strips in "Walk the Catwalk"

Hello, everyone!

I hope you're having a great 2014 so far. I'm actually finding that I am having such a hard time getting back into the swing of my busy schedule! Anyone else feel like that? I thought that what better way to shake off the rustiness I gained during the holidays than sporting some leopard print nail strips, so here is Sally Hansen Instagel strips in "Walk the Catwalk" in the pics below.

Sally Hansen's InstaGel line consists of nail polish strips infused with gel nail polish qualities, including the fact that they need to be "cured" with a led lamp once applied. I wore these during one of the craziest work weekends I've had in a while, and I want to say that they stayed on as long as I expected them to; which was about 5 days before one of the strips lifted up on one side. If you are the type of nail person who prefers long-lasting manis, then this might not be the thing for you. I change my nails quite often every week, so I was satisfied with the few days of wear, as I was already planning on my next mani anyways.

You can find any Sally Hansen InstaGel product from the nail strips, to the led lamps, and back-up top coat bottles at CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Ulta. If you have a CVS store nearby, I would check there first as quite a few of their products are included in the beauty sale that is currently running at most stores.

What do you think about leopard nails? Do you still love animal print as much as I do, or are you kind of over it? See ya in a few days with a new post, and hopefully some more energy! Pass the Cuban coffee, please! ;)

Scratch Nail Wraps in "Delphinium"

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a super quick post, and I mean quick, on some more Scratch (my absolute FAVE) Nail Wraps for you. The company had a really nice sale (50% off) on Black Friday to the first 15 shoppers at midnight that night, west coast time. Being a Miamian, I had to get up at 3 am eastern time (I know, I know) from my iPad to make sure I was able to get the ones I wanted at that price. I moved quick ebnough, and was able to get three sets, including "Delphinium" shown in the pics below. Take a look at these beautiful nail wraps after the jump!

I thought these nail wraps were so pretty and unique that I didn't even bother putting any studs or rhinestones on them. I think they're great on their own. Check out Scratch, if you haven't already, on their website to find out more about this brand new company. They have some amazing designs coming up soon, including a Zodiac sign inspired collection, and I don't think you would want to miss out! Thanks for taking a look, and I'll see ya next time :)

Incoco "Lemon Fizz" with glitter dot nail art

Hi!

Today I have a post for you that was a bit frustrating to put together. My lovely new camera was giving me lots of trouble when I attempted to take photos of the mani you'll see below. "Lemon Fizz" by Incoco is a bright, sunny yellow nail polish applique that was given to me by a nail buddy in a secret gift swap. They applied great, as usual, but I was so bummed when my camera refused to cooperate. Anyways, I had to break out my iPhone to get not very detailed, but more color-accurate photos. I hope they're not too bad! My nail friend also sent me some "glitter nail tattoos", which I had never used before until now. I thought the combination of the two came out pretty cool. Check it out :)

The glitter nail tattoos, I thought were interesting...lol. I read the instructions a few times, but was still hoping to find a video tutorial on how to apply these, as I'm more of a visual learner. There weren't any out there, but I can assure you that these are super easy if you want to try them out. I would say that they're similar to applying Elmer's glue to your nails with a dotting tool, and sprinkling on the glitter while the glue is still wet. As a matter of fact, that might be the better way to do something like this, as I wouldn't say my dots came out perfect above. You could also use a dotting tool with glitter nail polish, as I'm sure you've seen other nail artists do. Well, this was a learning experience for me, wasn't it?! ;)

If you haven't tried Incoco nail polish strips yet, check out their website, where you can find solid colors like "Lemon Fizz" and tons of cool nail designs.

What do you think about how my nails came out? I am going to try to do something like this again down the road, once I finally get myself some dotting tools (yes, I know, I'm slacking big time on that). I will see you next time with a new post with what I'm thinking will be nail polish appliques week for me. I have lots of amazing nail polish apps in my stash that I am anxious to show you! I want to get them on my nails, stat! Have a great Monday!

NerdLacquer "The Eye"

Hello, everyone!

Happy Friday!

Today I have a nail polish to show you that all of The Lord of the Rings fans would appreciate.

Quite some time ago, I did a couple of posts featuring two of the three LOTR-themed polishes that Amanda, the creator of NerdLacquer, had created. I wasn't quick enough to snatch this very last one that I'm showing you today, during the last restock where I acquired the first two (those of you who are NL enthusiasts know that these go super fast every time). Well, during a surprise restock Amanda had a couple of weeks ago, I was able to get "The Eye", completing my LOTR collection and making the LOTR nerd in me very happy. See how it turned out on my skin tone in the pics below!

"The Eye", inspired by the eye of villainous character Suaron, is a red with a hint of orange jelly containing some holographic and black glitter. I love the combination going on here, and the formula was easy to work with as well. I used two coats of the polish, followed by a coat of Gelous to smooth out the somewhat gritty texture of the glitter (available at Sally's), and my favorite quick-dry top coat.

NerdLacquer polishes are amazing; I absolutely love the handful that I have. I honestly never know when restocks happen, as they often catch me by surprise (maybe that's what makes getting them so fun... Or stressful for some of you?). I would recommend keeping up with Amanda on google +, but if you're a part of the nail polish community anyways, you know your fellow ladies will keep you in the loop regardless!

What do you think of this polish? Do you have any Needlacquer polishes? Are you a LOTR fan? See ya next time! :)
